Computer help

Firstly, what does a computer have to do with being an artist? Basic computer skills are becoming essential for artists to connect and engage with potential clients and the wider world. Having the ability to take a digital photograph properly gives you the power to represent your work in the best way possible, and knowing how to upload it to the internet means you can open your creativity up to the world.

TLC does not provide general computing help to its students. So, if you're feeling stuck or frustrated, what can you do?

Take a TLC computing class

Every term TLC offers a 'Computing for beginners' class as a Mains class. There are also regular Weekend classes covering digital photography.

Find a free class in your area

If you don't feel confident with day-to-day computing it's definitely a good idea to seek out some basic computing classes. There are a huge number of free (or very cheap) computer classes run by libraries, schools and universities all over NZ, so try and find one in your area.

Look for tutorials on the internet

If you're having a problem then chances are someone else has already had the same problem, solved it and written a tutorial on the internet. Use Google to search for the specific problem you want to solve (tip: you can ask a question like "How do I burn a dvd?" by using quotation marks).

Contact the shop you bought your computer from

Whoever you bought your computer from will be able to give you basic advice on how to use it.
