Description
Documentary video making is the art of telling real stories in imaginative, entertaining and insightful ways.
What's your story? Could others benefit from seeing the world through your eyes?
Come and learn all the basic techniques you will need to tell a fantastic story. From planning and research to conducting an interview, shooting with a digital video camera and editing with Final Cut editing software.
Come and share your dream! (Note -suitable for all levels though basic computer literacy a must.)
Content:
Week one: Telling a story - Introduction to Documentary Video Making
Week Two: Planning and research - timeline, budget and preparation
Week Three: Learning the ropes - how to conduct and shoot
Week Four: Lights, camera, action! - shooting and interviewing
Week Five: Finding your vision - capturing and editing
Week Six: Mixing a masterpiece - editing and sound mixing
Week Seven: Sharing the dream - finalising and presentation
Objectives:
* Learn from example and hone from experience the art of good story telling
* Plan and research, create a timeline and budget
* Learn the psychology behind conducting an interview and craft questions to fulfil the outcome you intend
* Learn how to operate a digital video camera and compose a moving composition
* Edit both visual and audio footage using Final Cut to create an engaging piece
* Present the documentary to an audience and receive feedback
Outcomes:
You will learn:
* The art of good story telling
* How to research, plan and budget for a short film
* How to conduct an interview and shoot a digital video camera
* How to capture footage and edit using Final Cut
* The importance of sound mixing and how to do it
* To share the dream with others by presenting your documentary
