Description
When starting a painting one works the painting from the general to the detail; or from suggestion to focus. In my classes this term we develop an idea by making lots of sketches and turn these into paintings. Suitable for all levels.
Content:
Life drawing will take place Wednesday morning. You will work on your own series. Also, during the term, if there is an interesting exhibition somewhere, I would like to take the class and explore the techniques of other artists.
Objectives:
You will gain an understanding that when organising an exhibition it is important that the show hangs together as a series of paintings rather than a cluster of disconnected works.
Outcomes:
At the end of this term you will have a better understanding that life is like an onion and that things are multi-layered. It is all very well to copy, but you will also question the reason for copying. In the process of making a series of sketches about the same topic, you get different view points and start to develop a language.
