Description
Focused study of these often tricky parts of the human body can really help with your life drawings and paintings.
The mornings are devoted to beginners and the afternoons to intermediate/advanced students. But you can stay the whole day and work independently or from the portrait DVDs. I aim to create a supportive learning environment - you will be challenged and have fun.

* Fun warm ups, silhouettes
* Anatomy of the head
* Drawing the face in profile, front on, 3/4 view (beginners)
* Drawing heads on angles and from different perspectives (advanced)
* How to draw eyes, noses, mouths, ears, hands and feet (beginners) and how to paint these features (advanced)
* Composition - Pt 1 and 2
* Thumbnail sketches, working from photographs, seeing tonal changes
* Painting the model from life (in black and white for beginners) colour for more advanced students
* Colour temperatures and mixing skin tones (advanced)
* Shared lunch at end of term

Objectives:
For the beginners: to be able to draw/paint from life the features of the face and the hands and feet leading up to completed paintings and drawings.
For intermediate/advanced: to be able to draw the head on angles, to paint the features and make a finished portrait in colour (media of choice).

Outcomes:
More confidence with painting and drawing from life. Deeper knowledge of anatomy of the face, hands and feet. Better understanding of composition and how to make portraits interesting. More practise with various techniques. Increased ability to analyse own work and discuss it.
