Class times

All block classes run from 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Block 1 runs during Week 1 of term, Block 2 runs during Week 9 of term.

Registration for Block 2 must be received by 5pm Monday 9th August.

Class lists will be finalized on Friday 13th August, you will be notified.

Raku Firing

Block: 2

Maximum number of students: 10

Description:
This class continues from the block 1 Raku class. Create deep colours with Raku glazes. You will carry on experiments from previous results and develop new ones by introducing different oxides, carbonates, frits and feldspars. You will work with smoke to influence the glaze on your ceramics and you will gain control with this fabulous play with fire.

Content:
* Lots of demonstrations and hands on experimenting and making of glazes, firing processes,
* Smoking the ceramics with different combustible materials and creating lustres with alcohol
* Discussion and feed back

Objectives:
A very good understanding of the Raku process.

Outcomes:
Clay items with lots of beautiful colourful glazes.

dust mask
japanese calligraphy brushes
pottery tools
